Marc Emerson received his National Certification in Massage and Body Work from The Virgina School of Massage, Charlottesville, VA in 1993. He became interested in massage when one of his own horses suffered an injury and needed follow up care after a series of chiropractic adjustments and acupuncture treatments. Massage therapy was the recommended follow up therapy and upon the suggestion of his vet, Dr. Joyce Harman, known for her books on saddle fitting, he earned his massage certification on humans.
His main objective was to work on his horses and studied Jack Meagher's method of equine massage and body work. Marc soon began getting requests to work on horses other than his own and branched out to work on outside horses and their riding partners.
Marc intuitively uses the modality that best resonates with what is needed to balance the energies. These modalities could be myofacial release, cranial sacral therapy, deep tissue, joint mobilization, reiki, energy balancing and/or polarity work. Marc also assists the rider/handler to be a better balanced partner using the same modalities along with The Alexander Technique.
